Barolo DOCG

Region: Piemonte

Sub-region: Barolo

Viticulture

From vines planted in 1979 in the commune of Barolo. Situated at 300 m.asl, with a westerly exposure. Soil is composed of sand (24%), Silt (46,4%), Clay (29,4%). The structure of the soils in this vineyard is very similar to that of the nearby Sarmassa hill, thus to one of the most outstanding vineyard sites in all of Barolo. Where this vineyard suffers a bit, however, compared to Sarmassa, is its less favourable exposure. This results in a lighter style of wine, with a more forward character, and requiring less cellaring. Vines are guyot-trained, with 3,700 planted per ha. Rootstock K5BB.

Vinification

The method of vinification can best be described as 'traditional'.
