Viticulture

From the Massara vineyard, in Verduno commune. Part-planted in 1988 and 1992, at 265 m.asl., the entire vineyard is almost 12.25 Ha. in size, though the Bianco-Burlotto family owns only a part of it. Only the Nebbiolo grape is cultivated. Soil content is a rich blend of sand (30%) clay (55%) and chalk (15%), also known locally as 'Marne di Sant'Agata'. South-easterly exposure.

Vinification

Hand-harvested in early-October. The maceration process takes place in 'tini' (open-top wooden vats), for 35 days. Wine is matured in barrels of Slavonian oak over 32 months, and then 1 month in stainless steel. The wine is then aged in bottle for 37 months before release.
