The Barberani estate was founded in 1961, and remains a family-run business, with sons Bernardo and Niccolò following in the footsteps of parents Luigi and Giovanna.
Maurizio Castelli, a well-known agronomist and oenologist, assists the brothers. The winery is situated in Umbria to the south of Orvieto, on the hills overlooking Lake Corbara and the river Tiber.
Estate
The estate itself is situated in the oldest and most-famous wine-producing area in the province. The estate covers a total area of 80 hectares, 50 of which have been cultivated with vines and olives.
Vinification is carried out separately for every vineyard in order to preserve their individual characteristics. Current output is estimated at 350,000 bottles per year.
The Barberani family export over half of their produce (wine and oil), with the brand being represented in over 15 markets globally including: United States, Canada, Brazil, Japan, Australia, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Great Britain, Germany, France, Spain, Belgium, The Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland.
